Colossal Mo Salah contract update

The Mohamed Salah contract situation at Liverpool has turned into another soap opera the club could have avoided if they were more proactive in negotiations and sorted it out earlier.

Salah, like his teammates Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil van Dijk, is in the final year of his contract and could leave on a free transfer at the end of the season.

Liverpool have been in talks with his representatives over a new deal but no significant progress has been made in the negotiations despite the club’s will to keep him.

As things stand, Salah will be free to hold talks with clubs outside England from January and Saudi Pro League clubs are prepared to throw silly money at him to take him to the Middle East next summer.

The attacker is said to be keen on staying at Liverpool but so far, no new deal is in place as the club continue to play with fire with the future of one of their most iconic players.

The club receive some positive news on the Salah contract situation

While there has been a steady stream of stories about Alexander-Arnold more or less agreeing to a move to Real Madrid, the news around Salah has been more mixed and he is believed to be torn over his choices.

The Saudi Pro League wants to turn him into the face of their league but Salah is also believed to be keen on playing at the top level in Europe.

Richard Keys, who a couple of years back claimed that Salah was more or less out of the door at Anfield and moving to Saudi Arabia, has come out with an interesting update on the contract situation.

Can you name the club Liverpool signed these players from?

The veteran broadcaster insisted that Salah’s preference is to stay at Liverpool but the club will need to meet his demands of a three-year contract.

“My information now is that Salah wants to stay, but it’ll take a 3-year deal to settle him down”, Keys wrote on his personal blog.

Liverpool are believed to be keener on offering him a two-year contract given his age but it seems, Salah has made a clear demand for a longer contract.

He is aware that the club would be desperate to hold on to him, especially if they lose Alexander-Arnold to Real Madrid.
