Club moving in ‘secrecy’ in pursuit of Liverpool-linked €150m star who is also wanted at Arsenal

Liverpool are looking to take advantage of their good start to the season by being aggressive in the market in the next few transfer windows.

Arne Slot has made a major impact since taking charge of the team from Jurgen Klopp in the summer and has impressed everyone with the way he has handled the pressure.

Liverpool are sitting at the summit of the Premier League table after seven games and the new Reds boss has been credited with the way he has dealt with the challenges he has faced since his arrival.

The summer transfer window didn’t go according to plan as Liverpool failed to deliver the defensive midfielder he wanted but Slot brilliantly found a way to repurpose Ryan Gravenberch for the number 6 role.

However, the Reds want to spend big in the winter window on a midfielder and are looking further ahead to identify more high-quality targets.

Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz has been closely watched and the Reds are keen to get their hands on him at the end of the season.

Real Madrid plotting in secrecy to land the Liverpool target

Wirtz is expected to spark an arms race amongst several top clubs in Europe next summer when he is likely to move on from Leverkusen.

Arsenal and Bayern Munich are pushing to sign him and even Liverpool are interested but the Reds have been tipped to have only an outside chance of signing him.

According to Madrid-based daily AS, he has been identified as the priority target for European champions Real Madrid.

They are working closely behind the scenes to set up a move for Wirtz in the next summer transfer window.

Real Madrid are making their moves in secrecy to make sure that they do not make any mistakes in their pursuit of Wirtz.

Leverkusen want €150m from his sale but Real Madrid and his other suitors are confident that figure will come down closer to next summer.
