Liverpool have started a losing run following their second loss in a row. The Reds faced Galatasaray as Arne Slot was hoping to get back on track in Turkey.
Unfortunately, a penalty from Victor Osimhen was the match decider as the game ended 1-0. The Merseysiders struggled a lot while attacking, as the atmosphere at Rams Park wasn’t the friendliest.
The players also probably didn’t sleep well as local fans burst firecrackers at 2 am. It was not just poor performance but something that underlied multiple variables together.
Form was another factor, though, as the Reds had gotten into a habit of getting away in the final minutes. Oliver Glasner’s men, however, flipped the script as Eddie Nketiah scored the winning goal against Liverpool at Selhurst Park.
The Merseysiders might also miss Alisson Becker following the trip to Turkey, and Hugo Ekitike is also under assessment for the game against Chelsea.

Virgil van Dijk Liverpool warning as captain urges team to improve quickly

Skipper Virgil van Dijk was disappointed again but kept his calm. The Dutchman showed a similar attitude following the defeat against Crystal Palace.
“Obviously, they got the penalty, they got a couple of opportunities basically through our mistakes in possession, losing the ball in unnecessary moments, a bit sloppy.”
“Listen, you stand here with a loss, and that’s obviously the frustrating part, especially after the terrible performance we had over the weekend. So, take this on the chin, and we have to recover quickly and be ready for Stamford Bridge.”
The defender also emphasised that the club shouldn’t panic, but also talked about the improvements that are needed. He also said that it was an improvement compared to Crystal Palace.
“Like I said, I hate losing, and there shouldn’t be panic, but there definitely should be improvement needed. I think it was a step-up in terms of the willingness, the hard work that we put in from the weekend, but that was not really too difficult because on the weekend it was just bad.”
“But now we just have to convert chances, don’t give a penalty away today and don’t make silly mistakes at times. It’s far too easy to say these things than to actually make it happen.”
“But it’s a process, and we have to keep going. Like I said as well [about] new players coming, it’s not about the new players. Maybe the focus is a little bit too much on that at times, but it takes a bit of time as well. We keep working, stick together and move on to the next one. That’s the only thing we can focus on”, Van Dijk told Liverpoofc.com.
