Borussia Dortmund attacker Jadon Sancho is once again at the heart of a transfer saga.
The English winger’s recent form has been fantastic, with a match-winning display in the DFB-Pokal final.
Comfortable playing anywhere across the attack, he’s exactly the profile of forward many top clubs are looking for. Now, Borussia Dortmund has reportedly put the English winger up for sale, at the right price of course.
Fabrizio Romano has reported that the price for the attacker is set at around €100 million.
This is slightly lower than the €120 million that Manchester United refused to pay last year. With Champions League qualification possibly on the horizon, he could be a target for the Reds.
Bringing him in would give Liverpool true depth in attack, as well as bring a touch of youth to an experienced front line.
Liverpool’s famed front three are all nearing their 30’s and Sancho joining would allow them to plan for the future.
A later arrival would place a huge amount of pressure on his shoulders. Bringing him in this summer would be difficult of course.
Liverpool’s finances, as reported this season have been deeply impacted by the pandemic. Champions League qualification will be vital for any move for big-name players. There will need to be a number of sales to make a move for the Dortmund attacker plausible.
The likes of Harry Wilson, Xherdan Shaqiri, and even Naby Keita could all be on the chopping block.
However, even if the Reds can raise the finances to bring Sancho in, it will still be difficult to bring him to Anfield. Both Manchester United and Chelsea have interest in him, and can certainly offer higher wages than the Reds.
If Liverpool decide to go for him, they’ll almost certainly have to put him in their top wage bracket, a rare move for Klopp. However, if they do sign him, it’ll be a true show of ambition after a disappointing season.
