Fabrizio Romano says that Donyell Malen’s move to PSV Eindhoven is almost done as the first paperworks have been signed but Liverpool never made a bid.
He wrote on Twitter: “First part of paperworks has been signed for Donyell Malen move to Borussia Dortmund.
“PSV will receive €30m, deal to be announced once medical will be completed. Liverpool have never made an official bid for Malen. Interest yes, but no bid from Liverpool.”

If the Reds truly never made a move, then I guess you can say they never missed out on signing him but it’s still disappointing to see the Dutchman join a different club.
I, personally, believe that Malen is the perfect attacking signing for Liverpool. He’s incredibly fast, young and is very versatile.
Much like Patson Daka moving to the King Power Stadium to join Leicester City instead of Liverpool, I believe the Reds have missed a trick.
Of course, the Zambian chose the Foxes specifically because they are able to offer him guaranteed game time but the fact remains that the Merseysiders are in a sticky position now.
Jurgen Klopp needs a striker to challenge Roberto Firmino for his starting role in the side and while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain could play a bit-part role there from time to time, he’s not a centre-forward and he wants to play in central midfield.
Of course, there is still plenty of time for Liverpool to move on to another attacking target but I can’t help but feel like Malen was the one.
