Beware Liverpool, losing Mohamed Salah could even affect the dressing room morale

Mohamed Salah has yet to agree to sign a new contract at Liverpool. The Reds want to hold on to him and the forward has prioritised staying at Anfield but there is still no agreement over a new deal. However, Egpytian is not certain that Liverpool will agree to meet his expectations even if he agrees to sign a new one-year contract with the club. Liverpool want the new deal to make financial sense and the player wants the club to acknowledge through the new deal that he is one of the best players in the world.

Salah has again been the most effective forward at Liverpool this season. He is on course to score more than 20 goals again for the eighth successive campaign in a Red shirt. The forward’s levels have not dropped even a little and some are wondering why the club are taking this long to sign him up on a new deal.

Liverpool have made their formal offer following the player’s recent outburst but there is still no agreement between the attacker and his representatives over a new contract.

The 32-year-old forward wants to stay at Liverpool and I have argued that the club should not worry about the attacker going on a decline given his fitness levels and consistent performances season after season.

However, Liverpool will also have to consider the effect it would have on the morale of the squad and the dressing room if a player of Salah’s importance leaves the club at the end of the season.

He has been the player who has been bailing out of the team out of difficult situations for years and losing him could affect the morale inside the team.

Liverpool star speaks out about the Mohamed Salah situation

Mohamed Salah has been the talisman inside the Liverpool squad for years. He showed against Southampton and Newcastle that he steps up whenever the team need him the most.

Liverpool players look to the forward for inspiration.  Alexis Mac Allister has talked about the forward’s impact on his teammates.

The Argentinian told Spanish sports daily AS: “He inspires us a lot, on and off the pitch. He is an example of hard work and dedication, always looking to give his best.

“He is a very hard-working person who gives everything to play football. On the pitch you can see it: Salah has that personality of always going for more, and when you have him by your side, you know he is a player who will give you assists or score goals.”

The announcement of a new contract for Salah would have a massive impact on the squad and could further inspire them in the latter half of the season.

Mac Allister admitted that the squad are hoping that the forward signs a new deal and will be at Liverpool next season.

“I hope he can continue like this because he is one of the most important players for our team”, he said.

“I hope he can stay at Liverpool next year. I want the negotiations to be successful. He seems happy here; he is a legend at the club.

“It would be ideal if he could finish his career here, but these are very personal decisions and it also depends on the club making its analysis or making a decision.”
