Bid received for Klopp’s first major signing – “It is said within the club” that a deal will not be completed soon

Jurgen Klopp Sadio Mane Liverpool

Liverpool have reportedly received a first offer for Sadio Mane but it’s just one of many chess moves that will be played.

This is arguably the most important moment in recent transfer history at the club since Philippe Coutinho left to join Barcelona in 2018.

Yes, Georginio Wijnaldum left the club last summer and it had a negative impact on the Reds’ midfield at the start of the season but he is far more replaceable than Mane.

Sadio Mane

The Senegal attacker sparked the transformation of Jurgen Klopp’s side when he joined from Southampton in 2016, scoring 13 goals and assisting 8 in his debut season.

To date, he has scored 120 goals and assisted 48 for the Reds and his goal against Wolves may prove to be his last in front of the Kop.

Bayern Munich make first offer for Sadio Mane

The Bundesliga champions have made their first bid for Mane, with a £25million offer being formally made, according to Sky in Germany.

That offer would mean Bayern would also pay between £4million and £8million in performance-related add-ons in the future.

According to Kicker, “A deal for Sadio Mane will not be completed soon. It will still take time it is said within the club.”

Mane will join Bayern this summer. That’s my expectation given everything being reported but Liverpool cannot compromise on their valuation of him.

He may have just one year remaining on his deal but Liverpool should not accept anything below £50million or I fear they will struggle to fund a move for a premium replacement.

Super agent believes there is more to Sadio Mane exit story

Top agent, Rob Segal, has discussed his confusion at the story unfolding at Anfield.

Sadio Mane

Mane wanting to leave the club has confused Segal, who believes there must be more to the transfer saga than is being publicly shared.

“It’s illogical. I just cannot understand why Mane would leave the best league in the world and a club where he would probably get more money than at Bayern Munich,” the super-agent told Caught Offside.

“I can only think something personal has happened there.

“Why, when you’re at a club that continually achieves great things, would you want to leave?”
