Bayern Munich reportedly have an agreement to sign Florian Neuhaus in the summer of 2022 as they don’t have the financial power to sign him this summer.

Liverpool are set to miss out on a midfield target as the 24-year-old edges closer to a move back home, according to Bild.

As a native of Landsberg am Lech in Bavaria, the Allianz Arena is a natural next step for him and while sources close to Anfield Central claim the midfielder was shortlisted by the Reds, he’s not my preferred Gini Wijnaldum replacement.

The Dutchman is set to sign with Barcelona for free this summer and his presence in the middle of the park will be missed but there are a lot of talented options out there that the Reds are considering, including Yves Bissouma.

Liverpool are currently playing hardball with Brighton, with the AMEX Stadium residents demanding nearly £50million for his signature which is a lot more than the Reds are willing to pay.

The player’s agent is taking the Reds threat of walking away very seriously and is acting as an intermediary not just between Bissouma and Liverpool but also between Liverpool and Brighton.

Arsenal have shown interest but much like Liverpool, £50million is beyond their financial capabilities this summer and Brighton would need to be very generous with an agreement over the amortisation period and payment structure to price the Gunners back into a deal.

For Liverpool, Bissouma is the best like for like replacement for Gini Wijnaldum and is the better tackler.

As far as Neuhaus is, or was, concerned, he’s not the type of midfielder that Liverpool are in need of.

He’s more of a deep-lying playmaker which would have been sensational to have during the 2017/18 season when Liverpool were the best counter-attacking side in the country but Jurgen Klopp has since moved to a more controlled, possession-based game that focuses on counter-pressing and limiting opposition chances.

Bissouma is a much better fit for Liverpool’s current tactical system but a move might be beyond the Reds this summer unless a favourable financial package can be agreed with his agent and Brighton.
