After Antoine Griezmann’s agent offered him to Liverpool, it has been made explicitly clear that Barcelona are open to offers.
According to 90Min, the French forward’s agent and sister, Maud, offered him to ‘a handful of Premier League sides.
Liverpool are said to be one of the sides offered the chance to sign Griezmann while Chelsea and Man City have also been contacted.
At the time, a swap deal with Atletico Madrid was still on the cards but now with talks between the two La Liga clubs abandoned, Barcelona are looking for a new club for Griezmann.
Now, Joan Laporta has said that Barcelona are open to all offers for the Frenchman as they search for a ‘financial equilibrium.’
“Griezmann is a player that has a market, with clubs interested, and we are building the squad searching for a financial equilibrium,” he said, as cited by Mundo Deportivo.
“With Antoine, we don’t have any problem, we love him. But if the market moves, we are open to all offers because we are in a delicate moment where we have to do balance financial fair play and because of that, we should speak with all the players so that it does not hurt them, or (if it does) for the least time possible.
“We are making these balances and are open to all the options that the market can give us, but we don’t want to harm the team competitively.”
Transfermarkt value Griezmann at €60m but despite the fact that he scored 20 goals and assisted 13 last season, Griezmann certainly doesn’t fit the FSG profile.
He’s already 30 and there’s no guarantee that his La Liga form will translate to the Premier League as he scored just twice in 7 Champions League appearances last season, according to Transfermarkt.
Liverpool have seemingly already missed out on both Patson Daka and Donyell Malen to Leicester City and Borussia Dortmund.
They need to get their act together and ensure they don’t keep losing out on their targets as there are no guarantees that new ones will appear as the start of the season draws nearer.
