Agents slammed Alexander Isak transfer to Liverpool as going against the ‘core principles’ of the club. The £125million transfer from Newcastle United has been labelled as the ‘worst’ of the summer.

The British record deal made headlines over the summer due to all the drama associated with it. Newcastle had agreed to sell the striker provided they get a replacement. However things took a bleak turn for the Magpies.

Refusing to train or play Isak held his club at ransom, thereby effecting his match fitness. The Reds deadline day announcement finally closed the lid on the saga. Newcastle brought in Germany international striker Nick Woltemade and Brentford forward Yoane Wissa as replacements.

But an agent has declared the deal to be the ‘worst’ of the summer.

By the time Isak’s transfer came to fruition, he hadn’t played for close to four months. This caused a slow start to life at Anfield.

And now as part of The Athletic’s agent survey, one agent has slammed Isak’s attitude and the record price Liverpool paid for him. “Because of what Liverpool paid for him, but also in terms of the culture of the football club.”, he elaborated.

“Eddie Howe, the Newcastle manager, is a good human being and handled that with as much dignity as he could. For me, goes away from Liverpool’s core principles — it’s always been about the club, not an individual, at Liverpool.”, stressing on how the transfer is unlike Liverpool.

Struggles for club and country

In six games for Liverpool, Isak has found the net just once. His sole game came against Southampton in the Carabao Cup. Fellow summer signing Hugo Ekitike has had much more success and is currently higher in the pecking order.

For country too the striker has been struggling. Sweden are currently bottom of their group in the World Cup Qualifiers. A loss to Kosovo has the former World Cup finalists in grave danger of missing out on the tournament. Appearing in three of Sweden’s four games, Isak has come a cropper for his nation.
