LFC can now “turn their attention to” £101million superstar after gem they agreed personal terms with snubbed them

Liverpool could now “turn their attention to” Borussia Dortmund midfielder, Jude Bellingham, with it clear they will not sign AS Monaco’s Aurelien Tchouameni.

Santi Aouna reports that Liverpool “are out of the race” for the 22-year-old as Real Madrid and AS Monaco continue discussions over a deal worth around €100millioin.

It’s a major blow to the Reds’ plans for the 2022/23 season but given Madrid’s financial power and FSG’s transfer model, it was obvious that Liverpool would pull out if the price reached these heights.

I’m particularly disappointed as I’ve had my eye on him for some time now and I would have loved to see what Jurgen Klopp could achieve with him at the club.

However, big clubs aren’t defined by the signings they make but rather how they react when their priority targets aren’t signed and that’s the situation Liverpool are in.

It’s made all the more difficult by contract issues at the club as Sadio Mane wants to join Bayern Munich this summer while a report from James Pearce states Mohamed Salah could join a team in the Premier League when his contract expires next summer.

The Egyptian wants to stay at Anfield but will not sign a new deal unless Liverpool “significantly improve” their offer.

Meanwhile, Roberto Firmino, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are also out of contract next summer so it’s all hands on deck behind the scenes.

Keita and Chamberlain could both leave this summer while it’s sad to see Divock Origi leaving for AC Milan but he departs with as good a reputation among fans as you can have with the role he played under Klopp.

With Tchouameni no longer a possibility barring an extraordinary change of circumstances, Liverpool could, the Daily Mail claims, turn their attention to Jude Bellingham of Borussia Dortmund.

The 18-year-old is already a superstar despite only just being able to drink legally in most countries around the world so to think the value he has in the football world already is quite astonishing.

The Reds “may turn their attention” to Bellingham but it’s not yet clear “whether he is open to the move” while the biggest hurdle will be Dortmund’s willingness to sell.

Jude Bellingham

“Liverpool will likely lack the funds”, the Daily Mail report reads, “to persuade the German club to sell having already Erling Haaland to Manchester City May.”

That’s the crux of this particular transfer.

Dortmund want £101million to sell the young star.

Bellingham has told Dortmund he will not leave until 2023, according to German newspaper Bild.

So it’s going to be just as difficult to sign Bellingham as it would be to sign Tchouameni.

If not harder.
