Aberdeen manager Stephen Robinson is looking to reunite with midfielder Connor Ronan as the club reshapes its squad ahead of the new season.
The Dons have the Colorado Rapids star high on their summer wanted list, according to reports from Record Sport.
Ronan previously impressed under Robinson during a successful loan spell at St Mirren in the 2021/22 season.
The midfielder made the temporary switch from Wolverhampton Wanderers to the Buddies, where he was considered a standout performer that campaign.
Aberdeen had been keen to retain Ronan in the Scottish Premiership at that time, but he instead chose to make a permanent move to Colorado Rapids.
The 28-year-old, a former Republic of Ireland U21 international, has been a regular for the Major League Soccer side over the past three years.
Aberdeen sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel will also have knowledge of Ronan, having previously worked at St Louis City in the MLS.
Ronan also fills a specific profile the club is targeting, combining the right age bracket with experience and familiarity with the Scottish game.
The Dons would need to negotiate and agree a deal with Colorado Rapids to secure the midfielder’s services this summer.
Ronan has previously had spells with Portsmouth, Walsall, DAC Dunajska Streda, Blackpool and Grasshoppers throughout his career.
Robinson has already made early progress in the transfer market ahead of the window’s official opening next month.
Deals have been agreed to bring in defender Brad Lyons, Lewis Mayo from Kilmarnock, and Alexander Briedl from BW Linz.
Aberdeen are also looking to move several players on to generate funds, with Marko Lazetic, Nicolas Milanovic, Ante Palaversa and Kenan Bilalovic among those potentially departing.
Robinson is eager to have much of his new-look squad assembled before the club’s Premier Sports campaign gets underway.
The Dons begin that competition with an away trip to Highland League champions Brora Rangers on Tuesday, July 14th, before hosting Queen’s Park on July 18th and travelling to face Queen of the South the following Wednesday, with the final game at Pittodrie against Kelty Hearts.
