Bologna officials are reportedly set to hold talks with Lewis Ferguson in the coming days to determine his future amid growing interest from Rangers.
The Scotland international has returned from the World Cup looking to secure regular game time under new head coach Domenico Tedesco at the Italian club.
Ferguson endured a difficult campaign last season, struggling to make an impact under former boss Vincenzo Italiano while recovering from a serious cruciate ligament injury.
Despite those challenges, Tedesco is said to view the 28-year-old as a key figure heading into the new season, though the player’s future remains unresolved.
Sporting director Marco Di Vaio acknowledged the situation before the World Cup, saying: “We agreed with Lewis that we’ll talk after the World Cup because the boy might want to explore possible offers.”
Italian outlet Il Resto del Carlino reports that a summit between Ferguson and club chiefs is scheduled for the coming days to assess whether the midfielder wants a new challenge.
Real Betis and Atalanta have both been mentioned as interested parties this summer, but a push from Ferguson himself could be enough to trigger a move to Rangers.
Ferguson has strong family ties to the Ibrox club, with his father Derek and uncle Barry both having played for the Light Blues, and it was previously noted that the player was keen to follow in their footsteps when he departed Aberdeen in 2022.

Nico Raskin has also been mentioned as part of a potential swap deal arrangement between the two clubs this summer.
Raskin delivered a string of impressive performances for Belgium during their run to the World Cup quarter-finals, attracting significant attention from clubs across Europe.
Sources in Italy indicate that Roma, Atalanta, and Bologna are all keen on signing the 25-year-old, while reports from England suggest Rangers rejected a £14 million offer from Hull City.
Real Betis are said to be readying a formal approach, with Villarreal also monitoring his availability ahead of a potential summer exit.
