Rangers are in active talks with the agents of Ryan Fosso and are leading the race to sign the defensive midfielder, according to reports.
Sky Sports Switzerland claims the Ibrox club are furthest down the road in terms of getting a transfer deal completed for the 24-year-old.
Fosso is also attracting interest from Serie A outfit Torino and Spanish club Levante, though neither appear as advanced as Rangers in negotiations.
Born in Lugano, the midfielder earned his first senior international cap for Cameroon back in March, representing a significant milestone in his career.
Fosso began his footballing journey in Switzerland with Young Boys before making a move to Vaduz, where he spent two years in Liechtenstein.
Fortuna Sittard then snapped him up on a free transfer, and he made a strong impression during his time in the Netherlands.
His performances caught the attention of Sturm Graz, who paid £900,000 to bring him to Austria just six months ago in January.
Despite being on a long-term contract in Graz, interest in the player has ramped up significantly, meaning Rangers will need to negotiate a substantial fee to get a deal over the line.
Rangers boss Derek McInnes is keen to strengthen his options in the centre of midfield, with the club also attempting to thrash out a deal with Partizan Belgrade for their highly rated captain Vanja Dragojevic.
The pursuit of Fosso suggests the Light Blues may be planning to cash in on Nico Raskin once his World Cup campaign with Belgium comes to an end.
Raskin’s potential departure would create a notable gap in midfield, making the additions of both Fosso and Dragojevic all the more important for McInnes this summer.
Meanwhile, the Rangers Review reports that Norwegian club Tromsø have placed an £8.5 million price tag on midfielder Jens Hjertø-Dahl.
Rangers have maintained an interest in the 20-year-old since first being linked with him last January, and he is believed to be keen on a move to Ibrox.
However, Tromsø have made clear the Eliteserien club will not be letting the young midfielder leave on the cheap, making a deal a complex proposition.
