Celtic are reportedly pulling out all the stops to sign striker Kieron Bowie from Italian club Hellas Verona this summer transfer window.
Hellas Verona were relegated from Serie A last season, prompting a wave of interest from clubs across Europe in several of their key players.
Bowie, who cost Verona £5.5 million when he joined from Hibs in January, impressed throughout the campaign despite his club’s drop into the second tier.
The 23-year-old Scotland international scored notable goals against Inter Milan, Juventus, Torino, and Bologna during his time in the top flight.
Verona manager Marco Baroni has reportedly told club chiefs that Bowie is too important a player to be sold during the current window.
Despite that stance, Celtic are said to be completely undeterred in their pursuit, with Corriere di Verona reporting the Hoops are preparing a substantial offer.
Bologna are currently said to be in “pole position” to secure Bowie’s signature, placing Celtic in direct competition with the established Serie A club.
A return to Scotland is reportedly tempting for the striker, with Celtic able to “offer him the opportunity to compete in European competition.”
Verona have slapped a £13 million price tag on Bowie in an effort to fend off the growing interest surrounding the in-demand forward.
Meanwhile, Celtic have also submitted a bid for Egypt World Cup hero Haissem Hassan, according to The Daily Star.
Hassan’s release clause dropped significantly following Real Oviedo’s relegation from the Spanish top flight, bringing his exit fee down considerably.
The wide man can now be signed for £10 million, reduced from a previous exit fee of £16 million, though Real Oviedo are expected to do business well below that figure.
Reports suggest Hassan is attracting interest from both Scotland and Saudi Arabia, with a fee of around £4 million being discussed as a realistic figure.
Spanish outlet Fondo Seguna reports that an initial offer of £3.4 million has been tabled for Hassan, which is now being “considered” by the second-tier Spanish club.
