Former Rangers striker Robbie Ure has spoken openly about his desire to one day return to Ibrox, but insists now is not the right time.
The 22-year-old left Rangers for Anderlecht in 2023 and has since moved to Swedish club IK Sirius, where he has thrived in spectacular fashion.
Ure is currently the Allsvenskan’s top scorer and has helped lead IK Sirius to a nine-point advantage at the top of Swedish football.
The Light Blues have been active this summer under Derek McInnes, with five new signings already through the door as the manager reshapes his squad.
Rangers have shown a clear preference for players with Scottish Premiership experience, with Ross McCrorie and Lawrence Shankland both arriving in this window.
Ure told the BBC: “It’s normal when you’re young and you’re playing well in a good league, you’re going to have interest from good leagues and good clubs.”
He added: “Especially when I score four goals, I think the noise is going to increase. It’s something that I’m going to be interested in, if I think it’s the right thing for me.”
Ure was clear that any move away from Sirius this summer was unlikely, stressing his commitment to the club’s remarkable title challenge in Sweden.
“At the moment, I don’t think I would come back to Scotland. One day, you never know. I’d love to return to Rangers,” he said.
He also outlined his personal ambitions, saying: “That was the plan when I first came to Sweden, to develop as a player and go on to bigger things. Until then, I need to stay focused and I need to keep proving myself.”
A separate transfer target has also slipped from Rangers’ grasp, with a return for Tottenham winger Mikey Moore appearing increasingly unlikely.
The London Standard reports that Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi is keen to give Moore a chance to compete for a first-team spot during pre-season this summer.
Borussia Dortmund have also entered the race for Moore’s signature, making it even harder for Rangers to secure a second temporary spell for the teenager.
Sandefjord defender Zinedin Smajlovic was another player linked with a move to Ibrox, but that deal never progressed and he has since joined Olympiacos.
Rangers will need to look elsewhere as McInnes continues to build his squad ahead of another demanding campaign in the Scottish Premiership and Europe.
