Rangers are facing a busy summer of midfield business as Derek McInnes looks to reshape his engine room at Ibrox ahead of the new season.
Jens Hjerto-Dahl has publicly declared his preference for a move to Rangers over rival suitors, signalling his desire to make the switch from Norwegian football.
The 20-year-old was previously linked with a move to Turkish side Besiktas during the January window, but that deal collapsed at the eleventh hour before it could be completed.
Reports from Italy then emerged suggesting Hjerto-Dahl was “one step away” from joining Rangers, with Serie A giants Lazio also among a string of clubs credited with interest in the player.
Despite penning a new contract with Tromso, reports in Norway now suggest Rangers have had a £5.3million bid rejected by the Norwegian club.
Besiktas have also reportedly revived their own interest by submitting a fresh offer, creating a competitive situation for the towering midfielder.
When asked by iTromso about the prospect of joining Rangers rather than heading to Turkey, Hjerto-Dahl made his feelings plain, stating: “It’s more appealing than going to Turkey.”
Tromso are now reported to be expecting the Scottish club to return with a second and improved bid for their prized asset in the coming days.
McInnes is under pressure to bring in reinforcements following concerns that Nico Raskin could depart Ibrox after catching the eye during an impressive World Cup tournament with Belgium.
Atalanta and Bologna are said to be keen on signing Raskin this summer, while English club Hull reportedly had a £14million offer rejected by Rangers.
Spanish side Real Betis are also keeping tabs on the 25-year-old, adding to the growing queue of clubs monitoring his situation closely.
Fichajes claim that Inter have “set their sights” on signing the Belgian midfielder, and that the Italian giants “can offer more interesting sporting prospects.”
The same report states that Raskin has “selected” Inter as his “most likely destination” should the Italian club submit a formal offer to Rangers.
Rangers are also said to be closing in on Serbian midfielder Vanja Dragojevic, while maintaining a continued interest in Bologna’s Lewis Ferguson to further strengthen the midfield department.
