Aberdeen are on the verge of completing the signing of Moroccan international striker Ayoub Mouloua from FUS Rabat.
The Scottish club have agreed a six-figure deal for the forward, with personal terms believed to be close to finalisation between both parties.
The remaining hurdle for the Dons involves securing a work permit and Governing Body Endorsement for Mouloua before the transfer can be officially completed.
Sporting director Lutz Pfannenstiel and head of recruitment Darren Mowbray have led the pursuit of the player and driven the deal forward.
The club’s recruitment team have done extensive work on securing Mouloua and have had him watched on multiple occasions before committing to the deal.
Mouloua has earned two senior caps for Morocco, though he was not included in the country’s World Cup squad despite his growing reputation.
The striker registered six goals in 21 appearances for FUS Rabat during the most recent campaign, adding to an impressive previous season return of 12 goals in 28 matches.
He is widely regarded within Moroccan football circles as a player with a bright international future and is seen as a potential long-term regular for the national team.
Aberdeen are no strangers to the Moroccan market, having famously signed the late Hicham Zerouali from FUS Rabat back in 1999.
That historical connection to the club makes this move particularly notable, as Aberdeen look to once again tap into talent emerging from the same North African source.
The Dons have been thorough and deliberate in their approach to this signing, leaving little to chance before committing the six-figure fee required to land the forward.
If the administrative requirements around the work permit and GBE are met smoothly, Aberdeen look set to add a promising and internationally recognised striker to their ranks ahead of the new season.
