Portuguese coach Goncalo Feio has confirmed he is open to working abroad again as Motherwell continue their search for a new manager.
The 36-year-old is understood to be among the candidates firmly under consideration by the Fir Park club following their vacancy.
Motherwell require a successor to Jens Berthel Askou, who departed the club to take charge at French side Toulouse.
Feio recently left Portuguese club Tondela after joining them in March in an attempt to stave off relegation from the top flight.
He was unable to keep Tondela in the division and subsequently parted ways with the club at the end of last season.
The Portuguese coach has previous experience working outside his home country, having managed Legia Warsaw in Poland with considerable success.
During his time at Legia Warsaw, Feio guided the club to a famous victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the UEFA Conference League, a result that raised his profile significantly.
He also had a brief spell in France during his coaching career, giving him a familiarity with operating in different football environments across Europe.
While options reportedly remain available to him in Portugal, Feio made his willingness to move abroad again very clear in recent comments to Portuguese outlet Record.
Asked whether staying in Portugal was his first preference, he told Record: “Yes. I’m very clear about where I want to go and where I can go. I know the path is hard, requires work, and involves many obstacles.”
He continued: “I hope to continue demonstrating my ability as a coach after this small sample at Tondela. I think I can remain competitive anywhere.”
Feio added: “If it can’t be in Portugal, I’m already a citizen of Europe and it can be somewhere else. The important thing is that the path continues to move forward.”
Motherwell are working to appoint a new manager quickly given the club’s upcoming commitments in European competition this summer.
The Lanarkshire side are already involved in the draw for the second qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League, with both legs scheduled for the end of next month.
Before those European fixtures, Motherwell have a seven-day pre-season trip to Denmark planned, with the squad departing on June 29 and a friendly against newly-crowned Danish champions AGF Aarhus scheduled for Sunday, July 5.
