Rangers have shown interest in Westerlo defender Bryan Reynolds but have yet to table a formal offer for the American international.
Reports from Europe suggested the Scottish club had a bid of over £2 million rejected, but sources close to Ibrox have firmly denied that any offer has been made.
Reynolds is one of several right-back targets currently being scouted by the club as they search for a replacement in that position.
The right-back slot has become a priority for manager Danny Rohl following the departure of club captain James Tavernier at the end of the season.
The recruitment department, led by Dan Purdy, has been holding talks with agents and players as part of the ongoing search.
Blackburn’s Ryan Alebiosu has also been linked with a move to Ibrox, though that reported interest has similarly been dismissed by those at the club.
Reynolds, who is 24 years old, came through the youth ranks at FC Dallas before earning a move to Roma in Italy.
He struggled to make an impression in Serie A and went on loan to Kortrijk before Westerlo secured his services permanently in 2023.
The American international is entering the final year of his contract, which could make him an attractive proposition for clubs looking for value in the transfer market.
Reynolds is also a former teammate of Tuur Rommens, the player Rangers brought in from Westerlo during the January transfer window.
Rangers have so far completed only one piece of transfer business this summer, securing the signature of Scotland international Lawrence Shankland from Hearts.
The club is also believed to be pursuing Dundee defender Luke Graham, who has attracted interest from clubs in England and across Europe.
