Celtic and several other clubs across Europe have been linked with Cracovia defender Oskar Wojcik, but the 22-year-old has laid out firm conditions for any potential move.
Wojcik has made clear he will not leave his Polish club unless he is guaranteed regular playing time at whichever club comes calling this summer.
The centre back boosted his profile significantly at the weekend when he earned his first senior cap for Poland in a 2-0 defeat to Ukraine.
Reports from Poland suggest Celtic had a bid of around £3.5 million rejected by Cracovia back in January, with the club holding out for a fee closer to £4.2 million.
Bologna, Fiorentina and Premier League new boys Coventry City are also reportedly monitoring the defender, meaning Celtic face significant competition for his signature.
Speaking to TVPSPORT.PL, Wojcik said: “Simply put, if an offer comes along with an interesting plan, a vision for development, we’ll consider it. It’s not like I hear a name, the first club that comes along, and I already want to leave Poland.”
He was equally clear about his priorities in any potential destination, saying: “The most important thing is that I don’t want to join a club just to be there. I want to play and become a better player.”
Wojcik also expressed a strong emotional connection to his current club and the supporters who have backed him throughout his career to date.
“My heart definitely tells me to stay at Cracovia, because it’s my club, which has great and supportive fans. I never imagined I could get so much from the fans,” he said.
However, the defender also acknowledged his broader ambitions, adding: “On the other hand… there are dreams. I’ve always imagined playing in one of the five best leagues in Europe.”
Celtic are also reportedly tracking Swedish centre back Zinedin Smajlovic of Sandefjord, a player who has attracted interest from Toulouse in France and Feyenoord in the Eredivisie as well.
The Hoops therefore appear to be exploring multiple defensive options this summer as they look to strengthen their squad heading into the new season.
