Manchester United are preparing to sell Manuel Ugarte this summer, with the club having already communicated their position directly to the player’s representatives.
Fabrizio Romano has reported that United made their stance clear to Ugarte’s camp, telling them the Uruguayan midfielder is expected to move on from Old Trafford.

The club plan to bring in at least two new midfielders during the summer transfer window, signalling a significant reshaping of the engine room at Old Trafford.
Ugarte joined United from Paris Saint-Germain in August 2024, signing a five-year deal after the club identified him as a combative ball-winner capable of adding defensive structure and aggression to their midfield.
The signing generated considerable excitement at the time, with United supporters hoping the Uruguayan could provide the bite and intensity the team had long lacked in the centre of the pitch.
Ugarte showed moments of quality during his spell at the club, demonstrating his ability to cover ground, press opponents and win the ball back in tight areas of the pitch.
However, United’s evolving demands under Michael Carrick have exposed limitations in his game, particularly when it comes to composure on the ball, positivity in tight situations and creativity from deeper positions.
