The Merseyside derby faces postponement concerns (Credits: Imago Images)
Everton travel to the red side of the city to face Liverpool in an early Merseyside showdown on Saturday. Arne Slot will be hoping to keep their unbeaten run as David Moyes’ men will try to garner three points at Anfield.
Moyes had pretty respectable statements to make about his rival as the Scotsman compared Slot’s team to Sir Alex Ferguson’s Manchester United.
“I think Liverpool have shown at different times where they have been very good, but then there have been some times when they’ve shown vulnerability when they have conceded goals. We will have to try and take advantage of those moments as well.”
“We played them last season at Anfield and lost to an offside goal, and we want to try and run them close again; we want to work hard and maybe this time it will fall in our favour.”
“It’s difficult to coach except for making people aware, and obviously, we are aware. It was the same with Fergie, and he used to get ‘Fergie time’. I see that the same with Liverpool.”
“He used to be looking at his watch and telling referees he wanted more added time, and his team used to get goals late on because they prepared themselves to score and were always very attacking. I see that the same with Liverpool”, Moyes told the press.

Yellow alert issued over Liverpool as Merseyside Derby might be postponed

Arne Slot might be eager to salvage a rest day following two intense matchups. Moyes, on the other hand, won’t be very keen as the Blues gaffer has got a referee advantage at Anfield.
Nonetheless, a yellow alert has been issued over Liverpool following predictions of heavy rain. The Merseyside Derby saw a postponement last season following a storm.
This season, the weather seems to be tipping for another rescheduling, but the conditions don’t look as bad. The likelihood of extreme weather is low, but an occurrence might lead to a medium impact, which the Premier League won’t like.
Despite the probability being low, a sword continues to hang at the neck of Derbyday. The Met Office has given a 70 per cent probability of rain.
Light winds are expected to follow with speeds ranging between 14-15 miles an hour. Visibility will be good, but fans from both sides will be hoping for a non-extreme version of the forecast so that they can enjoy the derby.
