Liverpool manager Arne Slot wants a new number 9 as the centre-piece of his plan to revamp the Reds’ attack next season. Darwin Nunez is almost certain to leave Anfield after struggling to prove his worth as a top goalscorer in his three years at the club.
Slot is looking to reshape the Liverpool attack next season, and if he has his way, the forward line will look completely different at the start of the new campaign, barring the presence of Mo Salah.
Nunez is almost certain to be jetted out of Liverpool, and a move to Saudi Arabia is emerging as a real option for the Uruguay striker in the summer.
Alexander Isak is the forward the Reds want. However, they are tracking other strikers as well, and one of them could be looking to move in the summer transfer window.

Aston Villa star’s future under the scanner
Ollie Watkins has emerged as a target for Liverpool ahead of the summer transfer window due to his curious situation at Aston Villa.
Marcus Rashford’s arrival in the winter window has changed things for Watkins at Villa, and he is no longer the first-choice forward for Unai Emery.
Mick Brown, the scout who convinced Villa to sign Watkins, feels the striker would want to move on if the Villans sign Rashford on a permanent deal from Manchester United.
“So from what I hear, Man United, Liverpool and Chelsea have all been having a look at him, and so have Arsenal after they tried to sign him”, Brown told Football Insider.
“What’s happened at Villa is Marcus Rashford has come in and he plays that same role as Watkins.
“He looks like he’s back to his best, and so he’s being chosen to start some of the big games for Emery.
“Watkins is definitely still a part of their plans, but he’s not going to be happy playing second fiddle to Rashford if they make that deal permanent.
“If that is the case, I’d expect those four teams I mentioned before all to make a move.
“Villa will be ready for that, they know about the interest, and if an offer is made that they deem acceptable, he may well leave the club.
“That would then leave space for Rashford to come in, and they’d probably want another one too.”
Villa’s financial issues mean the club will need a couple of big sales in the next window to adhere to the Premier League’s PSR guidelines.
