As the summer transfer window approaches, Liverpool are monitoring the transfer market.
The reds will be active as Anfield is sure to see some new faces in the next couple of months. Liverpool failed to sign a new player in the January transfer window. The club was keen to keep their best players as they sought to challenge for trophies later in the season. Arne Slot’s first season at the club has gone great. The Dutch coach has given hope to Liverpool fans after the departure of Jurgen Klopp.
Slot has transformed the players and the team. He has managed to get the best out of Luis Diaz, Cody Gakpo and Alexis Mac Allister. Ryan Gravenberch has been one of the best players in the Premier League season as he has thrived in the new system.

Liverpool concerned about Ibrahima Konate

As Liverpool plan to bring in new faces, there is a possibility a lot of players could depart. The main trio of Mohamed Salah, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Virgil Van Dijk are all out of contract soon. The three first team stars are yet to renew their current deals. There have also been reports that indicate Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota could also be shown the exit.
The latest player to be linked with a move away from Liverpool is Ibrahima Konate. The French defender is reportedly a target for Paris Saint-Germain. Football Insider reports that there is real concern within the club that Konate could leave. With Virgil Van Dijk possibly leaving, the reds would have hoped Konate would be the one to fill the role. But now, there is huge doubt that the defender will stay beyong this summer. The 25-year old revealed that he has a contract offer on the table last month.
“It’s true, I’ve been offered a new contract by Liverpool,” said Konaté in front of the press. “Am I close to signing it? That’s another conversation.”
What happens next?
Losing Virgil Van Dijk would be a huge blow, but losing Konate too would be a huge disaster. Liverpool could lose three of their starting back four in the coming months. This would leave the reds with a huge rebuilding job to do. And with the current options on the market, finding good replacements will be a challenge.
Liverpool could look to Bournemouth star Dean Huijsen, who has a release clause in his contract.
