Trent Alexander-Arnold has yet to sign a new contract and it is a massive source of trepidation for Liverpool and their fans. The club are pushing to convince the 26-year-old to sign a new deal but so far, there is no agreement over fresh terms with the defender.
Liverpool do not want to lose a defender who has been one of the best success stories of the club’s academy, won everything at the club and is still only 26.
However, the defender is taking his time to take a decision over his future and Liverpool are yet to reach a breakthrough in negotiations with the player’s representatives.
In less than a month, Alexander-Arnold will be free to hold talks over a pre-contract with clubs outside England and Real Madrid are expected to make a formal offer then.
However, Real Madrid could need a new right-back in January itself as Dani Carvajal is out injured and Carlo Ancelotti has been forced to play makeshift right-backs.
The Spanish giants are plotting a swoop for a right-back in the winter window but his name is not Alexander-Arnold.

It has been claimed that Real Madrid are prepared to test Manchester United with an offer of around £50m for Diogo Dalot in the winter window.

Dalot has been an important player under new manager Ruben Amorim but he is not seen as unsellable.
Amorim does not have much to spend in January and Manchester United could consider cashing in on Dalot if Real Madrid table a big-money bid.
With Real Madrid planning to table a bid for the Manchester United star, Liverpool would now fancy their chances of holding on to Alexander-Arnold.
