Liverpool tipped to swoop for Chelsea target

Liverpool are expected to invest in wide forwards next summer even if Mohamed Salah signs a new contract as Arne Slot wants more options in attack in the coming seasons.

Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa’s injuries have limited Slot’s options in the wide areas this season and the team are too dependent on Salah who is yet to sign a new deal.

Liverpool are expected to bring in a new number 9 next summer but the club remain in the market for wide forwards as well who could eventually go on to replace Salah in the long term.

The Merseyside giants have been keeping tabs on several players as the recruitment team go about their business of identifying targets for the upcoming transfer window.

Borussia Dortmund attacker Karim Adeyemi has been on their radar for a while and he is seen as a long-term replacement for Salah at Liverpool.

The Reds will face Premier League competition for the winger

Adeyemi started the season in fine form, scoring five times in eight appearances in all competitions, including a hat-trick against Celtic in the Champions League.

However, the forward has been out injured since the end of September and his fitness issues are said to be a concern for Liverpool as well.

The Reds remain interested in him but according to TuttoJuve, they will face Premier League competition for his signature if they move for him in the summer.

Chelsea have joined the race for Adeyemi, primarily because head coach Enzo Maresca is a massive fan of the player and wants him at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues are keen to add more attacking talent to their squad next summer and Adeyemi has emerged as a top target for the Chelsea head coach.

French champions Paris Saint-Germain are also keeping tabs on the winger and Dortmund hope to land a big fee from his sale.

Liverpool still hold the edge in the race and are in a better place to offer him Champions League football and stability compared to his other suitors.

Dortmund expect the auction for Adeyemi’s services to start at around €50m in the summer transfer window.
