Liverpool are expected to back new manager Arne Slot with considerable funds in January after an underwhelming summer transfer window.
Slot has defied detractors at the start of the season by taking the Reds to the top of the Premier League table after seven league games.
Liverpool have looked a team with a clear identity and the new manager has not wasted much time before leaving his imprint on the team this season.
The positive results at the start of the season have come despite a poor summer transfer window when the club failed to sign the midfielder the new manager wanted.
Liverpool are expected to invest in the midfield in the January transfer window as one injury to Ryan Gravenberch could leave them exposed in that area of the squad.
The Reds have been keeping tabs on several players and FC Nordsajelland midfielder Daniel Svensson is one of the players on their radar.
A January move is not impossible – Liverpool-linked midfielder
The 22-year-old midfielder was linked with a move to Liverpool towards the end of the summer window and he is one of the players on their watchlist at the moment.
Svensson admitted that he felt flattered at getting linked with Liverpool but conceded that he is not aware of anything more than the fact that the Reds have watched him in a few games.
“Great fun, of course. It’s a sign that I’m doing something right and performing well. I just take it as fuel to run on. It was obviously a bit surreal. It was perhaps not entirely expected that I would get to read about it”, he told the Swedish daily Fotbollskanalen
“I don’t know much about it. I only know that they watched some matches and such. More than that I don’t know.”
The midfielder conceded that he is closer to leaving Nordsajelland than ever given how much time he has spent at the club already.
He stressed that a January move can’t be ruled out at this stage but admitted that the club would want him to spend the rest of the season with them before leaving.
“I’m in the fifth season now. The idea is that I will move on relatively soon anyway”, he explained.
“It’s certainly not impossible [January exit], but it might happen that I play the whole season and then move on.
“The club has said that they want to keep certain players for the rest of the season, and I seem to be one of those players. It is likely that I will stay for the rest of the season.”
