Why Brighton could stop Liverpool from signing teenage wonderkid Lennon Miller

Liverpool are committed to signing the best young talents from world football as Richard Hughes ramps up the club’s youth scouting set-up. The club are pushing to land top young players who could become mainstays in the future or be sold for a hefty profit.

The Merseyside giants have big plans for the summer as the club look to provide more support to Arne Slot with more funds to spend in the transfer window at the end of the season.

Liverpool will have a lot to do if they lose key players and there are also suggestions that Slot and Hughes could even trigger a major reset with a number of experienced players expected to be moved on.

The focus will be on bringing in first-team-ready players who could slot straight into the starting eleven and make an impact, but the club will also have their eyes on bringing in some young talent.

Motherwell’s 18-year-old midfielder Lennon Miller has already been linked with a move to the Premier League with Liverpool believed to be interested in signing him.

According to CaughtOffside, Liverpool are prepared to pay somewhere around €10m to Motherwell and it is a big number for a club of the Scottish side’s financial situation.

However, it would not be a straightforward deal as several other Premier League sides are interested in the 18-year-old midfielder as well.

Brighton will pose the biggest threat to the Reds

Newcastle, Brighton and Southampton have also been keeping tabs on the teenage midfielder with a view to potentially taking him to England.

Liverpool are the bigger name of all the clubs involved in the race to sign him but Brighton are the ones who could present the biggest challenge to the Reds.

The Seagulls are interested in getting their hands on Miller and at the €10m price point, they can compete with Liverpool for the Motherwell star’s signature.

The biggest issue for Liverpool is that Brighton have a proven track record of developing young players and providing the platform for a bigger move later in their career.

The Amex is a good place for young players to develop as the pressure is not comparable to being at a big club and Brighton do not stand in the way of them leaving for a bigger club if their financial demands are met.

It’s not a surprise why so many top young players choose to move to Brighton to further develop and use them as the jump point to a big club.

Brighton have turned, signing young players and selling them later for massive profits into an art form.
