Liverpool will now struggle to complete £120M double transfer after Ornstein report

Liverpool's plans to strengthen their defence have been thrown into uncertainty following reports that Ruben Amorim, the supposed frontrunner to replace Klopp, is now less likely to join the Reds after holding talks with West Ham United.

This development could impact Liverpool's pursuit of Sporting Lisbon's Goncalo Inacio and Ousmane Diomande, who would together cost around £120 million.

Inacio will not be available for a discount price and interested clubs will have to pay over £50M while Diomande will only be allowed to leave if the £70 million release clause in his contract is triggered.

According to Football Insider, Liverpool had shown keen interest in the Sporting Lisbon duo, with sources revealing that the club admired the talents of both Inacio and Diomande.

These players have been instrumental in Sporting's success this season, often playing in a back three alongside former Liverpool player Sebastian Coates.

Inacio, 22, has been a regular for Sporting and has already earned six caps for the Portugal national team.

His partner, Diomande, a 20-year-old Ivory Coast international, has equally been impressive with four caps to his name.

The Reds saw these players as potential targets to reinforce their central defense, which has relied heavily on Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate due to injuries to Joel Matip.

However, Amorim's recent discussions with West Ham United could alter Liverpool's strategy.

His potential move to London might affect the Reds' ability to attract Inacio and Diomande, especially since both players are key components of Amorim's Sporting Lisbon team.

Without Amorim at the helm, Liverpool's recruitment efforts may require a different approach.

This uncertainty arises as Liverpool seeks a new manager following Jurgen Klopp's announced departure at the end of the season.

With Amorim no longer a likely candidate, the Reds will need to explore other options, potentially affecting their chances of bringing the Sporting duo to Anfield.
