Liverpool and Manchester City are further ahead in the race to sign Leny Yoro from Lille compared to Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain.

The French side may lose out on a player that could develop into one of Europe's centre-back powerhouses in the coming seasons.

He's still only 18 but his coaches say he is ahead of schedule in his development hence he is starring at the heart of Lille's defence this season.

So far this season, he has played 23 games for a total of 1,197 minutes. For a teenager, that's a baptism of fire but he's outperforming even the most ambitious expectations.

Another claim that Liverpool are in advanced talks to sign Leny Yoro

Earlier this month, le10sport claimed that Liverpool and Manchester United are in "advanced" discussions to sign Yoro.

Now, the French news outlet reports that Liverpool and Manchester City are in a far more advanced stage of negotiations compared to PSG.

While his contract will expire in around 18 months, Lille believe they can extract a huge fee and will demand that €90 million (£77.3M) is paid to secure his services.

Liverpool certainly won't pay that much especially given his contract situation. Negotiations will determine whether or not they can haggle the price down.

Who is better? Leny Yoro or Jean-Clair Todibo?

Yoro isn't the only centre-back said to be high on the Reds' list of targets.

Liverpool are also said to be in pole position to sign OGC Nice star Jean-Clair Todibo.

But, who is better?

Well, using Sam McGuire's model for profiling interesting targets, I've compiled the below table to compare key stats.

Fortunately, they both play in Ligue 1 which makes it a lot easier to compare their performance.

Player Name Tackles per 90 Aerial Duel Win Rate Pass Accuracy Interceptions
Leny Yoro 1.37 63.8% 91.2% 1.56
Jean-Clair Todibo 2.13 59.7% 90% 1.62

Not much separates them based on this limited sample but for a more in-depth comparison, you can visit Fbref and conduct your own research.

They're certainly both exciting prospects and Jurgen Klopp could both of them into top players.
