Ahead of a tricky Premier League trip to Elland Road, Liverpool manager Arne Slot addressed the media.
With his side seeking consistency as they sit 9th in the table, Slot discussed several agendas, including Mohamed Salah’s situation and Alexander Isak’s form.
Liverpool currently sit at 9th and face Leeds United next.

The situation around Salah continues to dominate discussions.
After being benched for two games before a half-time introduction against Sunderland, questions persist about his starting status. Slot kept his cards close to his chest but affirmed the Egyptian’s importance, stating, “He’s always in my mind to start or to come in.”
This suggests a return to the lineup against Leeds is a distinct possibility.
Warning about the Leeds challenge
Slot was effusive in his analysis of the threat posed by Daniel Farke’s side, drawing clear parallels to his own team’s recent struggles.
He pointed to their aggressive style and set-piece prowess as major concerns, noting he watched their game against Chelsea closely. “I thought I saw a Liverpool game; Chelsea conceding a set-piece and for the third goal making a big, big error,” he said, highlighting the specific dangers.

The press conference also served to bolster confidence in two high-profile attackers.
On Florian Wirtz, Slot dismissed concerns over his confidence despite a goal drought, pointing to his involvement. “I think you can see where his confidence is at if you look at the last two games – how many times he wants the ball,” Slot explained.
Regarding Isak’s lower involvement in recent games, Slot acknowledged the need for improvement but contextualised the issue.
“It’s not ideal for me,” he admitted regarding Isak’s low touch count, but stressed the quality of service is more critical than volume. “We have to make sure… he touches the ball at the right time.”
Dominik Szoboszlai’s central mission
Slot also provided clarity on Dominik Szoboszlai’s long-term position, reaffirming the Hungarian’s future lies centrally.
“In the long term, he will play in a central area, that’s for sure. Maybe also in the mid-term and maybe even tomorrow,” Slot confirmed.
His versatility has been utilised during an injury crisis, but the manager sees his best role in midfield.
Slot’s focus is now fully on navigating a hostile Elland Road when they play Leeds United, with his team selections and tactical setup under intense scrutiny.
