Now that Liverpool are working hard on getting their outgoings through the exit door, they can sign Renato Sanches.
If there is a ‘Michael Edwards-type’ deal just waiting to happen this summer, it’s Liverpool signing Renato Sanches from Lille for the £27m he is reportedly worth.
The Portuguese has just two years remaining with Lille and while they won Ligue 1 last season, it seems as though he has outgrown the French club.
Fabrizio Romano previously reported that Liverpool hold an interest in signing Renato Sanches as well as saying he’d be a good fit for Jurgen Klopp.
Until now, it seemed as though Liverpool, as a sell to buy club, would be unable to afford his low fee much less fit him into the squad given their lack of non-home grown player slots.
The former Swansea City midfielder has unfinished business in the Premier League, is just 23, has a high ceiling on his potential, wouldn’t demand huge wages and would be able to make an immediate impact on the squad.
As a trio, Thiago, Fabinho and Jordan Henderson, are more than likely Jurgen Klopp’s first-choice midfield three and so Renato would need to be content with a squad role.
That said, Hendo is 31 and has shown he can’t play every game of the season so Sanches will get more than enough opportunities to play.
