Joe Gomez has battled with injuries in his time at Liverpool but he looks to be close to full fitness and ready for a huge season.

The Reds are blessed with incredible depth at centre-back with Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip, Ibrahima Konate and Gomez.

At times last season, that's how the pecking order looked with Gomez battling to get into the side but after signing a fresh contract with the Merseysiders, he will be pushing hard to break into the starting XI.

Arguably Liverpool's best defensive season under Klopp came in 2019/20 when they won the Premier League with van Dijk and Gomez partnered in central defence.

It's so difficult to say I want Gomez to start the season alongside van Dijk because I also love Matip and Konate - this is why we're spoiled.

There isn't another club in Europe with the depth that Jurgen Klopp has at central defence.
