Interview with LFC target makes so much sense now as €40m deal nears completion

A video posted on Harry Pinero's YouTube channel UMM at the start of April makes so much sense now that Ibrahima Konate's move to Liverpool is all but complete.

When asked who is the best centre-back in the world, Konate said: “Ramos, number one. [Then] Van Dijk, then Alaba.”

The Frenchman, whose English is fantastic I must add, laughed and said he couldn’t answer when asked who he thought is the better manager between Jurgen Klopp, Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho.

This response seemed odd at the time but now that he is set to join Liverpool, it makes sense as he might have been worried that naming Klopp as the best coach would have strengthened rumours surrounding his future.

Alternatively, if he believes Guardiola or Mourinho are better managers, it might have also had negative repercussions for his move to Anfield.

The former Sochaux defender has agreed to a move to Liverpool, with the switch to the Premier League now a formality. Fabrizio Romano said on his 'Here We Go' podcast that there is little remaining for the Reds to do to seal the deal, with paying the release clause one of a few details left.

There is uncertainty over what the fee is that Liverpool will be required to pay to trigger Konate's release clause but whatever the exact figure is, it's clear that the Merseysiders are prepared to pay it.

We were told in February 2021 that the Reds will need to pay €40million but time will tell.
