Video: Andy Robertson limps off after serious-looking ankle injury vs Bilbao

Andy Robertson limped off for Liverpool after a what looked like a painful-looking ankle injury which marred a fantastic first half for the Reds.

Diogo Jota scored with a well-taken goal after Naby Keita intercepted following the high press and he could have had a second goal but his strike was cleared off the line.

Virgil van Dijk almost scored with a diving header but the game will be ruined if it's remembered for Robertson picking up a serious injury.

The good news is that he was able to walk off the pitch but that could be due to adrenaline as van Dijk walked off the pitch against Everton and he's only back now.

On first look, I really thought he had broken his ankle but it looks more likely to be a serious sprain and at worst ligament damage but there's no way of telling.

Unfortunately, we'll need to sit tight and wait for the club to get him taken for scans to assess the full scope of the damage before becoming doctors ourselves.

Luckily, Kostas Tsimikas has looked outstanding in pre-season but Jurgen Klopp will be wondering what he has done to anger the football gods to welcome Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez back from injury only for Robbo to pick up what looks like a freak injury.
