Kostas Tsimikas has now been the subject of two loan approaches from Napoli but Liverpool have no intention of letting him leave.

Despite his struggles last season, Jurgen Klopp wants him to stay at Anfield for the 2021/22 season and his pre-season displays are evidence as to why.

Last season was a disaster for the Greek and many seem to forget that he arrived at the club alongside Thiago Alcantara and Diogo Jota.

He was forced to quarantine due to government rules when he arrived in England which means he couldn't train initially.

He then missed 9 games with a thigh problem before a knee injury ruled him out for 8 games and when he returned in the New Year, he struggled to challenge Andy Robertson for any kind of game time.

All in all, he played just 225 minutes for the Reds last season but his pre-season form has been superb and he looks set to push Robbo all the way this term.

It was such a pity that injury and COVID-19 had such a strong influence on his debut at the club but I am over the moon that it's not going to affect the long term status of his time at the club.

With Liverpool not about to let him leave on loan, he will spend the season ahead challenging Robertson and covering him, the Reds will be able to rest their flying Scotsman more than they ever have.

Since joining the club, Robbo has played 177 games for Liverpool at an average of 44 per season and it's no surprise he looked a bit burnt out even before the EUROs.

Now, with a short break under his belt, it will be very useful for Jurgen Klopp to be able to rest the 27-year-old when he needs to.
