'He’s got to get flowers': Pundit says £72m-rated Liverpool star deserves more praise as Kylian Mbappe joins the debate

Trent Alexander-Arnold is the best playmaker in the Premier League and he's setting the benchmark globally now too as a tweet from Kylian Mbappe proves.

Whenever a player is setting the standard for a position or role, it's normal for that player to be compared to every other top player in that same position or role and Liverpool fans witnessed this in action on Twitter this week.

Achraf Hakimi, right back for PSG, scored a stunning free-kick against Malawi to help his Morocco side win 2-1 and reach the quarter-finals of AFCON.

Mbappe responded by tweeting that his 23-year-old teammate is the best right-back in the world.

He's 23 and yet he has played 223 times for Liverpool and already has 16 goals and 62 assists.

In his entire career to date, 59 goals and 170 assists and as one of the best-attacking fullbacks of all time, the Brazilian might soon start looking over his shoulder to see how close the Scouser is to his career total.

The Liverpool man is also doing it in the more competitive Premier League and without a certain Lionel Messi to help him although I'm fairly sure having Mohamed Salah to his right is as close as Trent will ever get.

Ian Wright says TAA is 'Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos. He's gone to space.'

The former Arsenal striker was effusive in his praise for the wonderful fullback and insists that he is now out of this world, comparing him to Tesla's Elon Musk and Amazon's Jeff Bezos.

Speaking on the Wrighty House Podcast, the man himself said: “I wanted to give Trent some flowers because I read something the other day.

“So, 50 Premier League players have four progressive passes per 90 minutes from open play. 21 players have five, five players have six, two players have seven, no players have eight, nine or 10.

“Trent Alexander Arnold has 11. He is out there, he is gone. He’s Elon Musk, he’s Jeff Bezos, he’s gone to space, he’s gone somewhere else. He’s got to get flowers.”

Trent has been one of the best players in the Premier League this season

I have an unconscious bias as a Liverpool fan that is impossible to turn off at all times but Mohamed Salah is the only player that I believe has been consistently better than Trent Alexander-Arnold this season.

As we all know, the Egyptian is away at AFCON but he remains the highest-scoring player in the Premier League as well as the player with the most assists despite missing all of January's fixtures due to his international commitments.

He has 16 goals and 9 assists in the Premier League this term and is widely regarded to be the best player in the world at the moment but Trent is playing at a very high level.

In fact, Trent is the best playmaker in the league despite primarily being a right-back and has 2 goals and 10 assists in the Premier League in 2021/22 while an additional 3 assists in the Champions League and 2 in the Carabao Cup.

Assuming he stays in England and with Liverpool, £72million-rated Trent Alexander-Arnold will likely retire as the best Premier League right-back of all time.
