€80million striker would follow Mohamed Salah's blueprint with a move to Anfield this summer

Tammy Abraham has joked that he will join Trent Alexander-Arnold at Liverpool next season during training for England.

On international duty with the Three Lions, the Roma striker jokingly mentioned a move to Alexander-Arnold that he will link up with him at Anfield.

His joke was captured by England's training ground videographer.

Abraham joked: “Trent, good luck. I’m joining you guys next season!”

The Scouse fullback laughed but given the form the forward enjoyed in Serie A this season, he could be a very 'out of the box' option for the Reds.

In all competitions, the 24-year-old scored 27 goals and made 5 assists for Jose Mourinho's side, winning the UEFA Conference League.

In fact, the striker has only ever won UEFA competitions after winning the Champions League and Super Cup with Chelsea.

Liverpool signing Abraham could be a repeat of history after they signed Mohamed Salah from Roma in 2017 after he too was deemed not good enough for the Blues.

Jurgen Klopp is in need of a striker this summer as Sadio Mane and Divock Origi are set to leave the club, with Bayern Munich already making an offer to the Reds.

Abraham joined Roma for €40million which is roughly the same fee Liverpool paid to sign Salah. In his contract with Roma, however, is an €80million release clause.

It would be quite pleasing to see another ex-Chelsea player succeed in the Premier League with Liverpool after being ousted from Stamford Bridge.

There haven't been any reports linking him with a move to Anfield aside from his little joke in training but with Origi leaving this summer, Klopp's team will lack height in attack and Abraham could add that as well as a high work rate, pace and never say die attitude.

And goals.

A lot of them.
