Should Liverpool sign a midfielder? Here's the best 5 options on the market

Liverpool are currently missing three central midfield players and have been linked with signing a replacement - but who could they sign?

With Thiago, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Curtis Jones all out for at least four weeks, fans are sweating over their current midfield options.

Thanks to Harvey Elliot's new contract, it seems fans have got their answer that the 19-year-old will receive more game time as a result, but many fans would still like to see someone come in.

Given their transfer targets and what is available on the market - here's five options on the market that Liverpool could sign.

Matheus Nunes

Nunes, 23, is in the 99th percentile for assists, dribbles completed and in the 82nd percentile for pressures per 90 - he would be an excellent fit for Klopp.

Youri Tielemans

The Leicester City midfielder has entered the final year of his deal and is available this summer, as he does not want to extend his deal.

Latest reports suggest a fee of around £25m will be enough to secure his services. The Belgian has over 50 caps for his country, scored the winner in the FA Cup final and can play anywhere in midfield across multiple systems - a no-brainer for any top side.

Konrad Laimer

Described as a 'pressing machine' Konrad Laimer of RB Leipzig is also in the final year of his deal and is a perfect Klopp player, given he's in the 99th percentile for pressures for a midfielder.

All of his other attributes are impressive too, especially across progressive passes, dribbles and his ability to contribute goals and assists from midfield. Still only 25, he's valued at £25m and would be a great option this summer.

Florian Grillitsch

Perhaps a name that not many know, Florian Grillitsch is currently a free agent following his exit from Hoffenheim, but the 27-year-old Austrian can play as a defensive or central midfielder and boasts great experience.

He also scores incredibly highly across the statistics; he averaged 2.1 tackles, 2 clearances, an average pass success rate of 89% and 6.6 long balls per 90 - he's well rounded and can also play centre-back - not bad for a free.

Franck Kessie

This is one is rather unlikely but, as it stands, Kessie is not registered for the start of this weekend's La Liga - meaning he could leave Barcelona on a free having just joined.

Only 25, he offers a powerful and dominating threat in midfield and could cover anywhere in the middle of the pitch. To be potentially able to sign someone of his quality for free - it may be a deal that comes out of nowhere if he isn't signed on this weekend.
