Father of €35m powerhouse declares what his son "just has to" do amid Liverpool links

Ajax starlet Ryan Gravenberch is set to remain in Holland ahead of next season as the 18-year-old wants to develop more before making a big move elsewhere.

That's according to his father, who suggests that he and his son are on the same page as far his the young midfielder's future is concerned.

He told Ajax Showtime, “He has to take that last step at Ajax. He just has to and he hasn’t done that yet.

“I want him to fully mature at Ajax, so as far as I’m concerned he will just stay at Ajax. He has only played one full season now and that was of course quite good, but next season he will have to play even better.

“In my heart – and also in Ryan’s – he first continues to develop at Ajax before he takes a step higher.”

On the 7th of April, Sport Witness transcribed an article from the print edition of Gazzetta dello Sport, who claimed that Liverpool were ‘pursuing’ the 1.9m powerhouse, who is yet to turn 19.

Now, however, the Dutch midfielder is set to snub all offers if comments from his father are anything to go by. His performances for Ajax in Eredivisie and in the Champions League belie his young age.

Despite his age, he operates with the authority and presence of a veteran and has the strength and muscle of a 90s-era midfielder. The below video is the perfect highlight reel for those that have never seen him play.

Liverpool fans will remember facing him in this season’s Champions League group stages and while his attacking talents were stifled by the Reds’ tireless pressing that night, he showed maturity and an understanding of the game that contradict his tender age.

Gazette dello Sport claim he’s worth €35million which would be a great price for such an exciting young player and it's a pity he's set to remain in Amsterdam because Liverpool are set to release a Dutch midfielder of their own, with Georginio Wijnaldum making his way to the Anfield exit.

Anfield Central understands Barcelona are set to secure his signature although he has been approached by Bayern Munich since they appointed Julian Nagelsmann, with the young manager a huge fan of Gini's.

They will be politely turned away by his camp as his heart is now set on a move to Camp Nou where he will link up with compatriots Frenkie de Jong and Ronald Koeman when his contract expires in the summer.

This summer will be a crucial one for Liverpool as they look to bounce back from a season in which they failed to meet any of their goals in any of the competitions they competed in.

A multitude of injuries hasn't helped but there's no point ignoring the poor performances of several of the players that have managed to avoid injury.

Jurgen Klopp and the owners will have several big decision to make in the transfer market and it's going to be really interesting to sit back and enjoy the show.
