Report: Liverpool could look to €25M French forward to replace fan favourite

Liverpool could look to sign French forward Martin Terrier this summer with a fan favourite departing Anfield.

The Reds have already parted ways with Sadio Mane this summer and could look to move on another part of their famed front three which dominated Premier League defences for years.

Roberto Firmino has fallen down the pecking order in recent seasons due to a lack of consistency in front of goal as well as the emergence of Diogo Jota and Mane as a false nine.

With the arrival of Darwin Nunez from Benfica, Firmino is not likely to receive more game-time and runs the risk of moving on in the summer window.

Could Firmino leave Liverpool?

Now 31, Firmino has enjoyed a highly successful spell at Anfield scoring 98 goals and winning the Premier League and Champions League.

But the Brazilian is no longer a guaranteed starter and hasn't been for a few seasons now.

With his contract expiring next summer, and no new contract renewal news to boot, Liverpool run the risk of seeing him run down his deal to leave on a free next summer.

Despite this, there have been few reports about a new deal which is surprising given how shrewd and frugal Liverpool have been in the market in recent years.

Reports from The Mirror now claim that Jurgen Klopp has been 'forced' to decide on Roberto Firmino's future as the reds identify another transfer target.

Firmino either follows Salah in signing a new deal or looks to seek a fresh challenge in the twilight of his career.

Who is the target linked with replacing Firmino?

In the latest reports, Liverpool have been linked with the versatile Rennes forward Martin Terrier who shone last season for the French side.

Terrier, 25, scored 21 goals from a wide forward position and could offer Liverpool a fresh threat in their new-look attacking unit. He is valued at €25M.

All of those came in the league and his technical qualities and direct eye for goal could combine for a perfect match in Klopp's attack.

With Luis Diaz, Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah looking like the first-choice attacking trio, The Reds could bolster their back-up by adding Terrier for Firmino in a re-fresh of their frontline.
