Liverpool and Arsenal told to pay €35million to sign 24-year-old that surged through France at the EUROs

Liverpool and Arsenal are both looking to sign a new central midfielder this summer and have reportedly been told to pay €35m if they want Renato Sanches.

While he went into the EUROs with a strong rep, his display against Portugal after he surged through the France midfield, obliterating a path between N'Golo Kante and Paul Pogba.

L'Equipe, via Sport Witness, reports that Liverpool are interested in signing Lille's Portuguese midfielder but are facing interest from Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Arsenal.

Barcelona don't have the funds to sign the midfielder, Bayern Munich sold him to Swansea City after it didn't work out for him in Bavaria and Liverpool have had their fill of injury-prone midfielders.

It seems questionable to suggest sides will sign him at this juncture especially as L'Equipe states he is out with ‘yet another muscle discomfort in a thigh’.

Liverpool are seemingly witnessing Naby Keita getting the better of his long run of niggling injury problems and so to invest another €35million into Sanches might not be the best idea.

That said, times is running out for Liverpool to sign a new central midfielder but I doubt a transfer machine as well-oiled as the Reds will panic and splash the cash on a player that isn't 100% worthy.

Still just 24 years old, very quick and able to press, the Portuguese would be a menace in Jurgen Klopp's side.

That said, with Sanches' injury issues clearly not a thing of the past, it makes zero sense to invest in him this summer.

Saul would be a great option and Yves Bissouma is still on the market but his £50million price tag remains an issue for the Reds.
