Quid pro quo - Major news breaks that could see Liverpool and Barcelona help eacher complete €40m signings

Predictably, the Reds have found themselves right in the middle of a complicated summer saga as they seek to replace Georginio Wijnaldum.

Liverpool's biggest problem is that they are struggling to move deadwood through the door and, in turn, are battling to generate revenue to fund new signings.

Saul, Sanches and Griezmann

All three have been linked with Liverpool but Anfield Central understands that Saul is their preferred option but it's a tricky scenario.

The Reds have a €40m plus add-ons offer on the table to Atletico Madrid and if negotiations between with Barcelona fall through, Michael Edwards could get his man.

This summer is quite a fun one

While I've seen a lot of Liverpool fans freaking out on social media because they've seen Manchester United sign Jadon Sancho, I couldn't be less worried.

While it's flippant to just say that we should blindly put our trust in Jurgen Klopp and Michael Edwards, they've only really cost Liverpool once in the transfer window and that was last summer when they decided not to replace Dejan Lovren.

Even then, the only reason that blew up in their face was due to the fact that Liverpool suffered the worst injury crisis I can remember.

Now, with Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez all making their way back to full fitness and Ibou Konate slowly learning the Liverpool ropes, defence shouldn't be an issue for the Reds next season.

Whether Liverpool end up signing Saul or Sanches, it doesn't matter much in my view.

I'm more interested to see who Liverpool sign in the attacking department as the longer the Reds take, the more they risk letting Borussia Dortmund have a free run at Donyell Malen.
