Real Madrid suffer quadruple injury blow as key starters miss training ahead of Liverpool clash
Real Madrid report that Eden Hazard, Toni Kroos, Fede Valverde and Dani Carvajal missed training on Wednesday as they prepare to face Eibar in La Liga and then Liverpool in the Champions League.
Liverpool's chances of winning the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie with Real Madrid depend largely on how strong a side Los Blancos can field when the Reds travel to Spain on the 6th of April.
The European giants shared a training gallery on their website on Wednesday, with a short statement, stating: "Carvajal, Hazard, Kroos and Valverde continue with their recovery processes."
Since his £88m move from Chelsea to Real Madrid, Hazard's injury issues have been well-documented. In total, the Belgian has had 10 separate injury problems as well as COVID-19.
All in all, he has missed 352 days during his time in the Spanish capital and will definitely miss the clash with former rivals Liverpool.
Dani Carvajal is also certain to miss the clash due to a hamstring injury.
The real concern, and something Real Madrid weren't expecting, is the potential absence of influential midfielder Toni Kroos and the dynamic Fede Valverde.
The German is struggling with an abductor issue while his Uruguayan teammate is struggling with a groin injury.
Liverpool can capitalise on Real Madrid injury crisis
While no true football fan will ever celebrate an injury to a rival player, there is no denying that if Kroos and Valverde miss the game on the 6th of April on top of Hazard and Carvajal's absence, Liverpool will be in a strong position.
Bar the continued absence of Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Jordan Henderson, Jurgen Klopp's side is looking really strong.
Fabinho's return to midfield has really strengthened the core of the Anfield side while the attack looked more fluid before the international break.
It's my view that Karim Benzema and Diogo Jota are the two most likely players to decide the tie, with both forwards in great form.
