€150 million star reportedly leaves the door open for Liverpool move

French star Kylian Mbappe could be on his way to Liverpool.

The young attacker has been flirting with a move away from PSG for some time now, and Liverpool are in his sights.

Le Parisien, a publication with close ties to the French giants, says he is eyeing a move to Anfield. Of course, he'd be exactly the kind of player any self-respecting fan would want for their team.

Able to play across the front three, he'd fit perfectly into Jurgen Klopp's system. It's also safe to imagine that he'd even improve on his stunning form for PSG under the German manager.

With 26 goals and seven assists in Ligue 1 this season, any improvement would be truly frightening. Blessed with lightning pace, as well as astounding technical ability, he'd become an instant favourite on the Kop.

However, there are issues with Liverpool making a move for the French star. First of all, and the most apparent issue for Liverpool, the finances required.

Even with only one year left on his contract, Mbappe's fee would be well into triple figures.

That's far more than the club-record £75million they spent on Virgil van Dijk. Then there are the wages commanded by the French star.

He's on a reported £403,000 per week, far more than any base contract for any Liverpool player. The Reds don't have the luxury of a nation state's funds backing them.

The only way Liverpool could even think about signing the Frenchman would be through the sale of one of their stars. There have been reports of the French club's interest in Mohamed Salah, so a deal could be done. However, it'd be a huge risk.

Mbappe has never played outside of France. He'd instantly be the highest-profile player in the Premier League, and therefore the most pressured. To get rid of a sure-fire goal scorer like Salah to bring in an albeit high-profile unknown quantity would be a risk.
