Player Ratings: Everton vs Liverpool

For a third straight year, Liverpool failed to win at Goodison Park drawing 0-0 with rivals Everton.

The reds found it hard to breakdown a well organised Everton defence. Roberto Firmino had a half chance just before half time. Brazilian midfielder Fabinho's free-kick forced Jordon Pickford into a save in extra time. The long break seemed to affect the reds, who will look to bounce back against Crystal Palace on Wednesday night.

The Toffees did, however, have some dangerous moments with Calvert-Lewin testing Alisson, and Tom Davies hitting the post.

The wait for a first Premier League title must go on for Liverpool.

Player Ratings

GK: Alisson - 7

Had very little to do for the majority of the game. Stepped up when Liverpool needed him most with big saves from Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison. Proved again why he is best goalkeeper in the league.

RB: Trent Alexander-Arnold - 6

Did not have much to do defensively. Produced a few dangerous crosses and looked like Liverpool's biggest threat.

CB: Joel Matip - 6

Returned to the starting XI in place of Joe Gomez. Justified his selection before being forced off with an injury.

CB: Virgil Van Dijk - 6

A solid display from the Dutchman. Did not appear to get out of second gear and just oozes class at the back.

LB: James Milner - 5

Forced into starting at left-back ahead of the injured Andrew Robertson. Booked early on for a tackle on Richarlison. Forced off with an injury in the 43rd minute.

CM: Jordan Henderson - 5

Kept the midfield ticking with his passing but was unable to find the killer pass to his forward line.

CM: Fabinho - 6

Protected the defence well. Came close to becoming an unlikely hero with a free kick in injury time.

CM: Naby Keita - 6

By far Liverpool's liveliest player. The break has appeared to be a benefit for Keita, who looked to turn on the ball at every given moment. He sadly could not find the killer ball.

RW: Takumi Minamino - 5

A surprise starter for many, Minamino failed to influence the game down the right-hand side. May need more time to adjust to the Premier League.

LW: Sadio Mane - 6

Had brief spells of looking dangerous. Caused Everton a few problems, but tended to drift in and out of the game.

ST: Roberto Firmino - 5

Had a chance in the first half but dragged his shot wide. Lack of service was a factor and was subbed off in the 65th minute.

Substitutions

Joe Gomez 6 -> James Milner (43rd minute)

Came on into an unfamiliar position. Looked solid defensively but lacked creativity going forward.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain 5 -> Takumi Minamino

Failed to make an impact down the right-hand side. Showed a brief moment of quality drawing a foul late on but looked off the pace.

Gini Wijnaldum 5 -> Naby Keita (65th minute)

Appeared to be the sub that killed any creativity. Gini offered very little going forward and failed to make an impact on the game.

Divock Origi 5 -> Roberto Firmino (65th minute)

Failed to add to his tally in derby games. The Belgian failed to offer anything and was booked late on.

Dejan Lovren 2 -> Joel Matip (73rd minute)

Looked an accident waiting to happen from the moment he came on. Huge error diving in against Richarlison almost led to an Everton goal.
