Liverpool trying to agree ‘achievable payment package’ to sign attacker after phone call w/ sporting director

A phone call was held with Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Prade as Liverpool explore the possibility of signing Dusan Vlahovic.

Anfield Central reported last week that Fiorentina want £60m to sell Vlahovic which is a price that Liverpool have since flat out refused to pay.

The Serbian scored 21 goals this season and is attracting major interest from Chelsea, AC Milan and Liverpool and while Juventus admire him, they aren’t willing to match Fiorentina’s asking price.

Liverpool believe is £60m far too high for a player that has only one season with over 20 league goals and want to find a way to agree an ‘achievable payment package.’

If the Reds cannot agree to a lower fee spread out over a series of instalments, they will not pursue their interest and that’s not a negotiating tactic.

After posting a £46m loss for the previous financial year, they are on a tight budget and FSG will not sanction a major outlay this summer without sales being generated.

Currently, the Reds are unlikely to generate record income from player sales as there is no intention to sell players like Salah, who would earn Liverpool over £100m.

Jurgen Klopp’s main ambition this summer is to hold onto his key players, renew their contracts and regroup after a freak season that saw injuries decimate his side’s chances of success.

This story comes from an entirely different source to the one that told us that Liverpool are planning talks to sign PSV Eindhoven striker Donyell Malen.

The Dutchman is understood to be the perfect fit for Liverpool as he mimics the likes of Salah and Sadio Mane in terms of pace, finishing, stature and dribbling ability.

Vlahovic is an entirely different kind of player as he lacks the pace that Salah and Mane have.
