Personal terms agreed, talks with club advancing - Liverpool close to third signing of the summer

Liverpool are closing in on their third signing of the summer to go along with Fabio Carvalho and Darwin Nunez as Calvin Ramsay edges closer to a move to join the Reds.

The Scotsman moving to Anfield increases Jurgen Klopp's squad depth and will drive Trent Alexander-Arnold to even greater heights.

The same happened with Andy Robertson when Kostas Tsimikas joined the club although the former Hull City star's last few weeks of the season were awful.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool are 'progressing in talks with Aberdeen' to sign Calvin Ramsay and personal terms have been agreed.

"Personal terms agreed as fullback wants LFC move, work in progress to get it done with add-ons in the agreement."

Darwin Nunez has joined Liverpool from Benfica after a medical was completed on Tuesday as Klopp's team for the 2022/23 season begins to take shape.

Carvalho will be officially unveiled as a Liverpool player on the 1st of July but all necessary paperwork has already been completed.

Ramsay is a really interesting signing and while he will no doubt play a squad role in the Champions League, there will be scope to rest Trent more than he has been in the Premier League to get the most out of the Scouser.

That said, he will not want to sit on the bench at any point and so the competition from Ramsay will drive Trent to reach levels he hasn't even reached yet.

Liverpool may still sell to buy but the way that Michael Edwards and now Julian Ward have enabled the Reds to match their biggest rivals without breaking the bank is incredible.

The likes of Ramsay don't move the needle on the pitch as much as someone like Darwin Nunez does but their importance to the balance of the squad must not be undermined.
