Opinion: Liverpool can poach unannounced Leicester deal after they won race to sign Patson Daka

Leicester City won the race to sign Patson Daka but with a deal to sign Boubakary Soumare yet to be made official, Liverpool should make a move.

The Reds have admitted defeat as Daka has sealed his move to Leicestershire as part of a deal worth around £23million.

He scored 34 goals and assisted another 12 for RB Salzburg this season and would have been a fantastic signing for the Reds and will surely take the Premier League by storm.

Liverpool can poach Boubakary Soumare

However, Liverpool can hit back at Leicester City by poaching a move to sign Boubakary Soumare from Ligue 1 champions Lille as their deal remains unannounced.

Liverpool must use this as an opportunity to poach him as they look to sign a midfielder of their own to replace Georginio Wijnaldum.

Would Soumare suit Liverpool's style of play?

Yes. Absolutely yes. The Frenchman is a sensational player and I can't think of a team that wouldn't benefit from having him in their ranks.

He reminds me of Tanguy Ndombele but lither and blessed with more pace. He's two inches taller and uses the extra length in his legs to manoeuvre the ball in a way that's also similar to Paul Pogba.

If Leicester City sign Soumare, they are getting an incredible player and he's arguably more exciting Daka which is quite impressive, to say the least.

The Foxes have been conducting business that should see them go up another level and if they can avoid capitulating at the end of the season for the third year running, they should finally play in the Champions League again.

Why aren't Liverpool signing Soumare?

For the life of me, I can figure that one out.

He's young, he's talented, he's a winner and Liverpool need a new midfielder so it's confusing why they didn't make a move of their own.

Unless they did and like Daka, he rejected the Reds in favour of guaranteed game time at the King Power.

If there is even the slightest opportunity for Liverpool to sneak in and steal a move for Soumare, they should absolutely take it.
